CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN AND POOR TRACK CONDITIONS
The team at GC is gutted to announce that this weekends 2-day Craigeiburn Enduro is CANCELLED. We have been so excited to bring this extended weekend of racing to you at last... But unfortunately the weather, especially late snow (and the 25mm of rain predicted for the next 48 hours), has deteriorated too many of the tracks for us to bring you the high calibre event that Gravity Canterbury prides itself on running. In addition, the long-te...rm negative effects of racing at Craigieburn in sloppy conditions would risk damaging our relationship with the other local clubs and our important concession with DOC. When it comes to Craigieburn, racing in conditions like these could mean never getting permission to race again. We consulted with the many parties who are involved with the Craigieburn Trails area, and appreciate your support in this extremely tough decision. This event may occur later in the season but there's no update on this at the present.
Full refunds for race entries & lodge bookings will be organized back to the bank account from which you made your POLi or direct transfer payment. Unfortunately this process will be very time consuming and will take us several days to organize so please be patient.
The future of the Craigieburn area is so important to us, so we are still going to make the most of the weekend and host a dig day on various tracks (based on number of diggers) this Saturday Dec 8. A separate post will be made later today outlining the details of this new event. Hopefully we'll still have some fun tricks up our sleeve - and our awesome sponsors are still offering some great spot prizes for us to give away! We still have the Cheeseman Lodge booked for Friday & Saturday nights, and it will be open to the first who email us with interest.
As of now, we know there are over 120 of you with plans to be in Craigieburn this weekend.... so please do consider taking this opportunity to give back to this special place with some of the time you had set aside for the race there. On Sunday we encourage you to stay and dig, or ride the tracks that are faring the weather well!
Lastly, it has been a pleasure to be your enduro ring leader for the last 2.5 seasons. I was looking forward to going out on a high note with the Craigieburn 2-day Enduro, but I will have to settle for a social weekend with you all instead. I am retiring my position at the end of the year, but please know you are in great hands going forward!
